SUSTAIN: Build Update
We have an exciting update today coming from Leeds General Infirmary as this week the team visited for a progress update on the SUSTAIN lab, which is now well into its build phase.
Trinxa have been busy with the initial strip out of the 1960s lecture theatre that previously occupied the space.

We are well on the way to delivering a state-of-the-art simulated operating theatre here in Leeds, capable of measuring and benchmarking sustainable surgical solutions and practice. Alongside this, the facility will house behavioural science capabilities mirroring those of the Behaviour Lab in the Business School: cameras, microphones, eye tracking, one-way windows, and more.
A highlight of the visit was learning that the construction team had uncovered pay slips and newspapers in the room dating back to the 1960s. Remarkably, the newspaper they found was dated 8th May 1968, exactly the same date as our meeting, but over 50 years ago.
The team is proud and excited to be part of this collaboration between the University of Leeds, Leeds University Business School, Leeds Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust, the Department of Health and Social Care, the Accelerated Surgical Care HealthTech Research Centre, and the wider NIHR community, alongside the many other partners involved in the construction and delivery of the facility.
